Do Real Men Wear Makeup?

The answer is Hell Yeah!  These super artists have not only entertained the masses with their outstanding music, but have also created mass appeal with their outlandish costumes and makeup. They added a visual niche that created armies of fans. Here are a few of our favorites:

Kiss - The leaders in this category. Their careers have spanned over 40 years and they continue to entertain. The Kiss Army is legendary.

Alice Cooper- "The Godfather of Shock Rock" his career has spanned more than 5 decades. This Detroit rocker puts on an awesome show complete with boa constrictors, fake blood, baby dolls and guillotines.

Twisted Sister- Far from the 80's Glam Bands, these New York Rockers clad in women's make up and clothing are incredible in concert and always very entertaining. More aggressive musically than a lot of their 80's counterparts, these guys stood above the rest.

That's just a taste of some of our favs. What are yours?  Until next time........

What makes a good Country song? One Ingredient is Beer of course....

Yep one sure fire way to create a country hit only needs 1 major ingredient... Beer. Here are a few of our favorite sit back and drink a cold one country songs.

Beers Ago- Toby Keith  From the 2011 hit album Clancys Tavern. The name speaks for itself. What a great beer drinking song.

Beer in Mexico- Kenny Chesney  This hit from the 2005 album Be As You Are (Songs from an Old Blue Chair) makes you want to sit on the beach watching the sunset while drinking an ice cold one.

Drink a beer- Luke Bryan   Who's hotter than Luke Bryan right now?  Throw in a beer drinking song from his 2013 album Crash My Party and yep another hit for this rising star

There are so many more beer drinking country songs. What are your favorites?  Comment and let us know!!  Until next time........

Smells Like Teen Spirit.... with a twist

Did you watch the 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on HBO? We watched it this past weekend and all we can say is WOW. All of the performances were incredible so we decided to give our take on our favorites.

How could you ever go wrong starting the ceremony out with Peter Gabriel? With millions of records sold worldwide, Peter is an awesome addition into the Hall of Fame. His performance at the ceremony was absolutely incredible. As we were watching it, the cameras kept showing his grandkids watching him and we were saying " man what a cool grandpa to have!"  He showed such humility in his acceptance speech as he honored those who paved the way for his multi decade career. Check out the video of his performance below:

Absolutely hands down our favorite performance was Nirvana. We really didnt know if we would see the remaining band members perform based on the fact that they hadnt even talked about playing until about 8 weeks before the ceremony. There was also the fact that they had reached out to several A list male rockstars who all shied away from the idea. So instead they reached out to several female rockers who jumped right on it. Joan Jett was the first to dive in. Based on her performance she was obviously up to the task. Check out the video:

Next came Kim Gordon from Sonic Youth, Annie Davis from St.Vincent, and Lorde. We were on the edges of our seats the whole time. We definitely recommend you catch the reruns of the whole show on HBO. You wont be disappointed.   Well, until next time......

The Heart of Rock and Roll

We love all kinds of music. Rock, Country, Soul, Jazz, R+B, Dance, Top 40, and on and on. We have to say our strongest passion is those undiscovered, under the radar, unsigned bands.

We had the privilege of riding our Harley from Florida to South Dakota in August of 2013 to attend The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and stay with one of the hardest working unsigned bands in the country, The Jasmine Cain Band. The reigning 4 time Music City Mayhem Female Rock Vocalist of the Year holds nothing back on or off the stage. We've never seen such hard-working, passionate people with the common goal of playing music for the fans they love so much. A typical day at the event went like this:

Up at 7am for a splash of coffee while checking emails and connecting with fans on social media. Next its folding t-shirts and getting merchandise ready for the days shows. A quick bite to eat and its off to load the equipment into the first venue for the daytime show, before rushing back to the house in a hail storm to get ready to quickly leave for personal appearances at different locations around town, before hauling butt to play the first show..Seems like a full day already huh? Not even close!! After the first show the equipment is broken down, loaded up and taken to the nighttime venue, set up and sound checked before another 2 or 3 set show. Now, after ALL of that its like 1 or 2 am and guess what? The equipment again is broken down and loaded up to start it all over again tomorrow.

Did we also mention the band stays after each show until every person or fan has gotten the hug, autograph, smile, t-shirt or a kind thank you for coming to see us we hope to see you at our next event, and still have time to go home and unwind in an impromptu jam session in the living room at 3am? These hard working people sure do love what they do and in my opinion is what "The Heart of Rock and Roll" is all about.

We'd strongly recommend taking the time to check them out at jasminecain.com for event dates and showtimes, merchandise, band bios and more!!   Till next time ...
